Massage for hallux valgus is a simple manipulation technique that aims to have a reflex effect on the cervical and lumbar spine (depending on the severity of the pathology), as well as on the legs and feet, in order to treat and prevent the disease.

Hallux Valgus massage is performed carefully, without unnecessary physical effort, as the foot has anatomical characteristics.It can be a general reinforcement or a direct impact on the deformation zone.
Preparation
Before starting the massage for hallux valgus, it is necessary to make preliminary preparations for the manipulation, which consists of several stages.
For adults this is:
- Steam your feet in hot water with an infusion of an herbal mixture of sage, pine needle extract, chamomile and oak bark.The medicinal components of plants easily penetrate the heated dermis and have an anti-inflammatory and tonic effect.
- Apply an emollient containing shark oil or bay oil to the feet and big toe area, which can warm and nourish the deep layers of the dermis.
For children with anatomical pathology:
- light rubbing with the palms and then more intense (with the ribs of the palms) of the cervical spine, lumbar region;
- warming the skin and muscles of the thighs, legs and feet with gentle circular movements to make them more flexible for the main massage.
After manipulations, massage procedures will be comfortable, painless and more effective.
Technique
Despite the general techniques - stroking, rubbing, tapping, pressing, massage for valgus feet in children differs from procedures for adults.
For children, experts advise starting with the neck and back;for adults, all manipulations are aimed at the area around the lump, characteristic of the pathology (but not at the growth itself), as well as at the feet.
In adults
Hallux valgus massage is performed independently as follows:
- with circular movements of varying intensity, the area around the protruding joint is worked;
- the tip of the thumb is heated, small turns of the joint are added to the sides;
- Using strong gripping and pressing movements, the joint of each finger is felt and gently pressed.
This is followed by a non-contact massage, you need:
- move your toes up and down;
- make a fan - fingers diverge to the sides and converge;
- pick up a small ball with your toes and move it to the side;
- Place your feet on the needle roller and roll it with light pressure.
These exercises, thanks to increased blood flow, relieve inflammation and pain in deformed joints and help strengthen muscles.
In children

Massage for children with curvatures of the feet is carried out with extreme caution and only in a lying position to avoid additional stress on the musculoskeletal system:
- The child is placed face down so that the legs are below the work surface and the spine is worked with up and down movements, followed by grips on the sides towards the armpits.
- They go down to the sacrum and buttocks, stroking in circular movements, and also crosswise to work these areas.
- With stroking movements starting from the knees, the back surfaces of the thighs are massaged, after which these areas are carefully massaged with more intense movements.
- Flat feet and valgus heels are rubbed intensively in all directions, after which the skin is gently shaken in the leg area, without pinching.
- Each finger is massaged intensely in turn, with light stretches along its entire length.
- Using circular movements from toes to heel, drawing a figure eight, work your feet.
- The child is turned onto his back, a pillow is placed under the knees and the exercises are repeated on the front surface of the legs.
Massage for hallux valgus in children, when, in addition to flat feet, the heel rolls inward or deviates outward, is effective with timely and regular treatment.
